Hello, ive been observing the site for a while now, gathering information. Ive been wanting a cummins for quite a while now, and i found one today that i really like. It's a 1998 12v 5 spd 4x4 short bed ext. cab in red. I have been coming up with some questions to ask if i go to look at it, and i was wondering if you guys had anymore information i should know about, and/or any more questions to ask.
Here are my questions to ask as of now:
Mileage-
Tire size-
tread life-
Rim size-
Clutch-
KDP-
gauges-
gears-
cracked dash-
rust-
stack size-
rear bumper dents-
seat ripped-
cc or qc-
fuel plate-
bed liner-
lift or spacer-
hitch in bed-
turbo shaft-
4x4 engage-
any more would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure that the 5th gear nut has been upgraded

 

Ask if it's ever had the front end components like balljoints replaced. The front end tends to wear out around 100k miles and cause sloppy ride and steering. Also it's pretty expensive to replace.

Carfax it - yes it's only a guide, but I've been really suprised at how many problem veichles I've turned up in recent searches. Also the front end ball joints are around $1800 parts & labor to replace, tires are apx $160 - 190 each, and front brake rotors run around 120 - 140 each from a parts store for these rigs, just in case you were not aware of the cost of owning & maintaining one.

 

I think I'd just ask about oil leaks then depending on the answer move on to the KDP
