12V or 24V ????

Hi all, this is my first post and my first CTD, so I have a ton of questions. However first let me say that I truly enjoy this sight ! ! ! I have started to learn so much but have so much more to learn Ok now for the main question for now is how can someone easily tell if the truck has 12V or 24V ??? I know that 1998 is the change over and that is what I have..... so before I start doing to much to the truck i just want to know what i have first. Thanks ! ! ! !

Another way to tell is to look at the tachometer. 12V has a 3000rpm redline, 24V is 3500. Look at the vehicle serial number, on a 24V the 8th digit will be a 6.

Thanks for the quick replies...... yeppers I am a very lucky dude (jumping for joy) my engine looks just like the 12V and the tach redlines @ 3000. Just a little more info on the truck is a 5 spd, 4x4, ex-cab, dually with 4.10's (so i was told). So this is going to fit the bill good since I got the truck for camping. Once again thanks for the replies and expect me to ask some more questons (some not too bright )

Congrats on the truck, and welcome to the DTR. Lots of good information here, ask any questions and someone will chime in with helpful tips.
