I'm so stupid!!

For trusting the seller of my truck..

When I was in negotiations, part of the deal was to fix a leaky crank seal. I asked him while they were in there, to tab the KDP. He agreed. It's in the bill of sale, too, that the KDP was tabbed.

Fast forward a year later, I develop a healthy oil leak out the front of the engine.. TiminVA took a look at it and pretty much immediately diagnosed KDP.

First the 10,000 mile old ATS transmission self-destructs (inferior parts to OEM inside it, slipped through their QC during rebuild), now the KDP... I love the truck, but ya just can't trust sellers sometimes...

Oh well, the timing is going to get advanced while he's in there, so I should have a noticable power increase and MPG increase, too..

Unfortunatly buying a used car this is what we get. I could write a book about my troubles. Bad thing is to many times the seller had good intentions but the mechanic was to blame for the problems.

Thats rough! I bought my truck with a similar stipulation. When I picked it up they said when they took the front case cover off there was no dowel pin in the hole. I got the truck home and re-did the front seal myself and sure as edit there was no dowel pin but also no damage to the case! I put one in, locktited it, peened the case and tabbed it to be sure! Better luck in the future!

Went through the same thing myself!!!!!!!!! I drives me crazy. I had to find out the hard way that my truck didnt have: A dual disk, 4" exhaust (my fault ), kdp tabbed (came out 7 months later ), internal pump work, and other crap. I mean i guess i should have taken everything with a grain of salt, but geez man, he realy did me over. Oh well, live and learn. I wish somebody would try one on me now that i know what to look for

Thats why you check and make sure anyways. When I bought my truck we called the previous owner and asked him about the dowel pin and he was like "Oh yea me and my friend tabbed that about a month ago". Well when we pulled the cover it was about 2/3 of the way out with no tab in sight.

what is it, in this world that people think nothing of lying. i buy and sell a lot of stuff, it is what pays for my playing. and i promise you will not find one person that says they didn't get a good deal from me. but maybe that is why people keep calling me back when they are looking for something. but i have took plenty of hickeys when buying stuff, some people will just lie about anything.

Well, turns out the KDP didn't punch through the housing, but it was certainly NOT tabbed, and certainly NOT there.

Part of the oil leak was the moron who was supposed to tab the KDP instead driving a new front seal right over the old one, pushing the old one onto the crank. How dumb can people be????
