12 Valve lift and injection pumps
12 Valve lift and injection pumps
Do the 12 valve trucks suffer from crappy lift pumps and delicate injection pumps like the 24 valves? Is a stock fuel system adequate for moderate power upgrades, or is an aftermarket lift pump required? Please pardon my ignorance, as I am still learning about the 12 valves
Your stock inj. and lift pump are fine. Very hardy system. The p-7100 gets lubricated from engine oil, the lift pump can handle rigs pushing 1000 ft lbs and more. The 24 valve guys wish they had our pump reliability.
The most common fuel related problems with the 12 valves is the rubber fuel lines, and the overflow valve. KD

What he said!!!!!!
Just to give you an Idea there are plenty of people out there in the 500-600hp area running stock LP's and IP's that have several hundred thousand miles on them> I know one person in particular that has made over 800hp on the stock 12valve pumps (took some major tweeking) but it can be done. The P7100 is probably the best IP ever put into a diesel pickup
