Hi - I'm putting a 3.9 bta in an old Ford. Just tore it down for a rebuild. Anyway, I had the block in the stand crank up and pulled the cam out and then the rods/pistons. Was going to then remove the tappets and mark them so they go back in the original hole but I figured I'd do that the next day before checking the bore taper while the main caps were still on. So the next day I forgot about the tappets and flipped the block over to mic the bores and watched all the tappets fall out. I'm reusing the cam as it is fine and the tappets all look good with no scoring. I've heard two sides, just put the old tappets back in anywhere, others have said to buy new tappets. What do you guys say? This will just be a pretty much stock rebuild with a slightly turned up pump to 150 - 160 HP or so.
