Interesting comment on diesel fuel and injection pumps...
Scott at J&S Injection service in Las Vegas hosted a tour of his business and discussions at May Madness - he made a STRONG statement that todays "drier" diesel fuels, due to refining processes used to reduce sulphur content, will GREATLY benefit from fuel additives such as Power Service and Standyne (sp?)

He strongly suggested that such additives should be used EVERY tank, and regardless of injector pump types - all will benefit from the added lubricity.

A word to the wise...
Re:Interesting comment on diesel fuel and injection pumps...
Good advice. Allen from A&M Turbo in Macon, Georgia says the same thing. His shop is a Bosch authorized shop and he recommended additives to me after I traded my 98 for the 01.

Scooter...

Brand and type is a personal choice. There are a lot of different brands available.
Redline, Stanadyne, Amsoil, Power Service, and many more. You will find support for every brand.

I carry power service in my truck all the time.I have it there in case it is cold out and I can't find #1 or 50%. It is also an injector cleaner. Would that be the same stuff?
Scooter

Help me out with this, are you talking about the stuff that removes water and cleans injectors? Or is there some oil that needs to be added as well???
Re:Interesting comment on diesel fuel and injection pumps...
Most of the "Diesel Fuel Additives" contain "Lubricity" agents to help lubricate the Injection Pump and Injectors, as well as other agents to clean the fuel system.
Re:Interesting comment on diesel fuel and injection pumps...
I know this has been raised a number of times and might be redundant but what about adding two stroke oil to fuel. Seems to me if we are looking to raise the lube factor in fuel that it would work. Anybody have any hard info? Of course there is also the question about using MMO but I would like to keep it to two stroke oil.
Re:Interesting comment on diesel fuel and injection pumps...
I don't know about using two-stroke oil, but in addition to the lubricity of the Power Service I get enough additional milage out of a tank to offset the cost of the additive.

I also have a Carter 4600 pusher pump added to my fuel delivery system - time will tell if any of all that pays off...

I'd be a bit concerned about the contents of the two stroke oil...do they have any detergents in them like some other oils?

LUBRICITY will save the pumps an early death.
DETERGENTS will put the life of the pump in jeopardy.
