Re:1000 FT LBS

You could have 600hp and still have a street drivable truck. 1000ft-lbs ain't [censored] on these engines.

Re:1000 FT LBS

On the fueling side a TST #10 plate (forward) and 370 injectors should get you into the ball park.

On the air side, good idea to upgrade the turbo - your choice of vendor, but a HX40 would do the job. If you want to use that 1000 lb-ft for long periods of time, you should also look into changing the camshaft for better breathing.

This will give you a good start.

Re:1000 FT LBS

I would use a Zero fuel plate, a 3000 rpm governor spring kit, a light spring on the AFC, an ATS exhaust manifold, Piers' flowed 370 horse injectors, an open air intake and air cleaner system, O-ring the head and get a first rate copper headgasket, relieve the bolt boss out of #1 intake, port the head to unshrowd the valves, install a Piers prepped HX40 turbo with the 16cm housing, and install about 78" of 4" exhaust pipe all the way from the turbo back. Set the timing to about 18.5 (or plus 2 degrees), warm it up good and floor it!

That should get you about 1075 lbs of torque at 1830 rpm. Change the cam to one of the aftermarket units and I would estimate you will get close to 1200 lbs torque if your engine is in good shape. Your torque will drop off as you get close to the redline, but you should still get very close to 600 real horses.

You can go with the smaller turbo housing, and make more torque and horsepower, but the heat will build up so fast that it will be hard to keep the power turned on.

Your head gaskets and O-rings will live about 90 days unless you get the best you can find, and use all new headbolts and the torque plus deflection tightening method.

If you have any block, bearing, or piston weakness, you will likely find it in the first half hour on the dyno.

You will be shedding a lot of heat so be sure your oil pump is up to snuff, as it is what cools the piston crowns from the bottom.

Have fun.

Re:1000 FT LBS

Don't forget some trans and/or clutch upgrades, stock drivetrain won't take those kind of numbers for long.
