$600 for bell crank??

We took our '94 to the dealership to have the recalls done and the dealership just called to tell us they can't replace the throttle cable unless we buy a new bell crank/ bell crank housing. I had never even heard of this part before, but after a couple searches it seems that the bell crank is actually part of the recall? I'm having trouble finding more info on this so if anyone can help prevent this $600 bill it would be much appreciated.
thanks,
Geoff

hi
had dealer tell me my bell crank was woren when i had it in for a linkage recall !
got to playing with the tps and noticed the bell crank was loose , so took the assembly , remove 3 cabels and 3 bolts = easy ! off and found out there aer 2 plastic bushing that shaft rides on .
ordered 2 new bushings greased them up and installed them , reinstalled the assembly , works like new !
the 2 bushings cost less than $5.00 !!!!!!!
rotate your assembly cc befor tightining the mounting bolts , then rotate tps cc also when tightining and my trany shifts perfect now !

I have been reading and havn't read anywhere that the housing ever needed to be replaced, only bushings which cost under $2 each. Its a 5 speed so the only thing it can affect is throttle and it hasn't been an issue. Dealer must just be trying to screw me...I guess they get upset when you bring in a truck for all its recalls at 350k miles

I got the recall done on my '95 a couple of years ago and they replaced the "swivel joints" or what ever you want to call them during the recall. I didn't have to pay for anything.

Mine were really loose too. I figured I would replace them myself after but to my surprise I didn't need to.
