Steering Gear - Box Input Shaft Seal Kit
If you go to Advance, NAPA, RockAuto, or most anywhere else and ask for a steering gear-box input-shaft seal-kit, they will give you this :
GATES #351320 / 8525
This kit fits the majority of the 1st Gen. trucks and is the one shown in the instructions in our sticky.
It consists of :
big O-ring for end-plug
new snap-ring
shaft-seal (drive-in type)
dust shield (plastic disc with a center hole)
Occasionally, you will run into a truck that NONE OF THIS FITS.
Everything is LARGERexcept the O-ring for the plug.
On these, there is no dust-shield.
Instead, there are TWO drive-in seals, stacked one atop the other, and of a larger diameter than the one in the 8525 kit; actually, this is a much more secure set-up.
I could find NO specific seal-kit for these.
TWO required seals = National Federal Mogul #471267
dimensions = .875 x 1.375 x .250
The O-ring and snap-ring I just matched up from the parts-house assortment.

More Dana 60/70 Hub part #'s
This is from a member over on CF...
You should have a dana 60 up front but for the rear there are two options: A dana 70 which is rated on your truck door sticker as 9000 lb GVW and what the auto store calls a spicer 71 which i believe is just there code for saying its not the 9000 lb one. You will need inner and outer bearings and races for all 4 so a total of 8 bearings and races. You will also need hub seals and axle seals. Here are some part numbers from oreillys and these are National Brand Seals and Bearings. They are high quality and made in the USA.
Rear inner bearing (9000 lb axle)= Part# : 28682 Quantity Needed: 2
Rear inner race (9000 lb axle)= Part# : 28622 Quantity Needed: 2
Rear/front outer bearing and race set= Part# : A38 Quantity Needed: 4
(The above bearing/race set Part# A38 is good for both types of rear axles and dana 60)
Rear inner wheel seal (9000 lb axle)= Part# : 417158 Quantity Needed: 2
Rear axle hub seal? (9000 lb axle)= Cant find this part number... I was able to reuse mine but if you cant just take it into the store with you and they can find it. Im talking about the thin metal piece that is behind the hub with the 8 bolts in it when you remove the axle shaft.
Front inner bearing= Part# : 387A Quantity Needed: 2
Front inner race= Part# : 382A Quantity Needed: 2
Front inner wheel seal= Part# : 415009 Quantity Needed: 2
Front inner spindle hub seal= Part# : 710044 Quantity Needed: 2
Front outer spindle hub seal= Part# : 710045 Quantity Needed: 2
Hope this helps you and let me know if you need the part numbers for the spicer 71 non 9000 lb axle.
You can guess I'm looking for this info right now...

The number for the Spicer bearing strap kit that fits the 1410 series u-joints in our rear drive shafts is: 3-70-28X. This includes two new straps and four new screws.
