92 Build
Hello new to the forum. Thought I would start sharing my little project with you all. 92 bone stock w250 with the getrag 5 sp and 3.42 gears.
Here is my power package that I've got for it
-Borgwarner super b turbo
-4" exhaust with downpipe
-BD fuel pin
-gov spring
- 5 x .012 VCO injectors
-AFE stainless manifold
-Hefty lift pump
-Set of gauges and pillar pod
-South bend clutch
-Set of new valve springs from toxic diesel
Other stuff I'm in the process of getting are
-Set of springs from Alcan, looking for 4"-6" of lift
-Redhead steering gear box
-Borgeson shaft
-Crossover steering kit from ORD
-KDP kit
Couple of questions...
I'm interested in upgrading my intercooler, Ive heard the powerstroke is the best option, how about tubes and horn? Id love to see what others have done.
Before I order my new springs I need to figure how much lift I'm going to need. I would like to clear 37's with no trimming.
Thanks

Welcome to the board....sounds like quite the load of upgrades you have on the agenda. Should keep you busy.
Did someone change out your gear ratio to the 3.42's ? Stock gearing was 3.07, 3.54, or 4.10's.

Might want to read this before you spend the money on parabolic springs.

If/when I do a 3-4" lift I am going to go with a 52" Chevy rear spring swap for the front and a shackle flip for the rear.

Got a couple quick questions. First is it wise to upgrade to 9/16" wheel studs. I've decided to only lift the truck 4" with 35" tires. If I upgrade the wheel studs do I need different hubs and does this effect bolt pattern when buying new wheels ect.
Also has anyone found any ext brakeline kits for the front axle?

maybe this will help?

On the brake lines I am going with braided stainless. yuo can get them in many lengths. And they will firrm up the pedal feel as they dont expand under pressure. I am piecing mine together form parts from summit racing. Anything that says "kit" costs at least twice as much.

Thought I might finally post some pics of my project. Basically nothing to fun yet, just a pulled apart first gen, but I do have a pic of some custom side steps I fabbed up. Kind of went for the rock slider look.
I'm still waiting on my springs from Alcan and just going through my punch list of things to get done while everything is opened up and easy to get to. I was wondering if I should beef up some of the areas like the frame where the PS box mounts, also the front and rear shackle mounts. I know I'd like to replace the shackle bushings at the very least but if I can bolt or weld on something heavier duty on I'm not opposed. Truck won't see a ton of heavy off road use but now is the time to address these areas. I will be running cross over steering and I'm putting on a new red head gear box.
I also am interested in getting a fluid dampr for the rig and wasn't sure if it's a straight forward bolt on deal or not. I thought I read somewhere that there might be clearance issues with the fan or something.
And finally...I will be replacing transmission mounts on the cross member while the tranny and t case are out but I'm contemplating replacing the engine mounts and body mounts. The appear to be in fine shape but theres over 200k on the truck so I assume it wouldn't be a bad idea. Rubber doesnt appear dry or cracked or anything but thinkin just the age alone makes em less than they could be. Just lookin for some opinions.
Thanks

Looks like a really good start. And I would definitely do something about the steering box mount. My thinking is fix it before it cracks the frame and be done with it.
Your steps are interesting. are there just two mounting points or are you going to have a couple to the top tube?

Looks like Jim is the guy to talk to. How do I get ahold of him. Phone number perhaps?
Side steps have 3 mounting points to the frame and the pic was just a test fit and I added gussets and stiffeners. Was kind of just going for a slider type look with contour fit. Basically just used a bunch of material I already had vs buying new.

I figured You were just mocking up the steps. I like the design.
Thrashingcows ( i know there are more of them but I don't know who has em) will have the info on the fluid dampener He is a big fan of builds so I am sure he will check in soon.
