9/16 Wheel Studs on 350

I know this topic has be close to beaten to death, but I have a question about swapping the rear wheel studs on a d70 to 9/16's to fit aftermarket wheels on a dually. I understand that no on makes a 9/16's wheel stud w a knurl of 0.655" that is longer than about 2.5". For the rear of my dually i'd like to obviouly run something longer than that for a steel inner and aluminum outter set up. Thought maybe a second gen wheel stud would fit, but the knurl is smaller, so i went through Dorman's catalog and think that this might work, but ya'll let me know.

Found dorman part # 610-303, which is 3 9/32" long w/ a knurl of 0.677. would it be possible to get the drums reamed out or drilled out, obviously by a machinist, for a press fit of the above studs? or, would it be easier/cheaper to get them to turn down my 5/8s stud to 9/16s on a cnc mill/lathe?

Thanks for the help guys, i might be way over thinking or over doing this, if so, sorry,

James

Haven't done this myself, but easy enough to get a few thou removed from the hub so that the new studs fit fine.

I've done three of 'em by just drilling them out with the proper drill bit. The drill is tapered and will center itself. Never had a vibration from any of them.Just slow and easy does it.

good deal, thanks a lot, i guess i was just gonna waste some money and take them to a machinist to be good and sure, lol

i have 9/16 studs on the rearof my dually with 5/8" rims and 2" spacers.
i used tapered lugnuts to centre the rim...the spacers were kinda hub centric.

anyways i was thinking why not just drill out the wheel?

bc i've got 9/16s on the front since i converted it over from SRW to DRW using Chebby front hubs. i'd like to have the same size lugs all the way around just for GP i guess more than anything, and i'm looking at not using any spacers, i'm not a big fan of them, just MHO

I've been looking into this for some time now .found out the ford front hubs will work with the dodge bearing this for the 2wd d350. i did not know the chevy front hubs would work. im pulling the hubs off a 91 f350 2wd for my d350. just thought. lets us know what u do to the rear. i may just drill them out an just buy the lug nuts for the 5/8 stud discount tire can get the lug nuts.

sorry, the fronts are on a d60, i'm building a 4x4. on the rear i just ordered those lugs that i mentioned in the first post and will drill them out for those new ones. I've got plenty of 5/8 lugs that i won't be using since i'm swapping to 9/16s, but as i'm deployed right now i won't be able to tell you how they work for a few more months, lol. I can get someone to mail you the lug nuts tho, i know they're getting harder to find, and expensive when you do from what i've seen.

Expensive for sure. When I was doing mine I thought just run down to O'riellys . Boy did I get a surprise. The next one I bought all the wheels and the nuts at the same junk yard and only had to buy the studs. Still took almost a C note.
