Removing the body moulding

I'm going to paint my truck and I'm thinking of removing the body molding. Has anyone else did this? If so does someone have some pic's? What are your thoughts?

Thanks, Tony

Is the truck two tone or one solid color?

I pulled mine when I painted it. Its a flatbed so im not sure aboutthe bed but the cabcorner trim will leave you with 2 large holes per side. Mine is solid white but I did reinstall the fender flare trim. I thought about a pin stripe on the lower body line but am undecided.

when you remove it you will have 2 holes in the cab corners and 2 holes in the fenders up front other than that the rest looks clean with it off

I thinking of leaving it on around the wheel well but taking everything else off. Mine also is a flat bed.

I took it all off when I painted mine. I managed to find some chrome wheel lip molding for it to break up some of the blue.

Here is a little better view of the side.

As a side note, I have posted a few times about new front springs and how level it sits now. So before some ones asks, these pics were taken before I did my 7226S springs.

Jim Lane took his off when he painted it, and then put some aftermarket stuff on that he got from his local body shop. I think it was for a Chevy but looks real nice. Track a pic or two of his truck down and see what you think.

I found the wheel lip moldings on fleabay. They were about $100 if I remember. They are aftermarket parts. They were listed as fitting 73-8x but they fit my 93 just fine. Search "dodge d250 molding" on fleabay and some should pop up. Mine came as a complete set of 4 but I don't see a set of 4 on there anymore. The rear ones are longer than the front and the fronts are different side to side but the rears are the same side for side I think.

If you take them off use a piano wire or guitar string, not a putty knife. Its much easier and it saves the chrome. They are hard to find for people who want them, and you could sell them.

Yeah I might sell them....however they have a few scratches on them here and there. I think I will just go with something like soot4brains has on his....if anything at all.

Thanks, Tony
