Body Side moulding on '04?

Ok, I know on the Laramie the body side molding is chrome. But if you don't go with the sport package and order it, what color is it? My dealer thinks it's now all chrome unless you go with the Sport package.

Crabjoe!!

Side mouldings on Sport are now standard in truck color. Previously Sport did not get side mouldings.
Was at a dealer the other day and saw a few 2004's, but these had no moulding. I'm pretty sure these were SLT's. Maybe the side mouldings have been deleted on ST & SLT.
Wish these side mouldings would also go on the box portion, which they did back in 94-95.

Re:Body Side moulding on '04?

I ordered Patriot Blue SLT with the side moulding because I was told that the moulding color other then the Sport were now chrome. But if the side moulding is black, I wanna change the color of the truck to Black for it to match. THen again, I guess black side moulding will match the door handles and side view mirror.... Dang it. I wish the dealer had them on the lot for me to look at.

Re:Body Side moulding on '04?

Here's my understanding from what my dealer told me:

1. non-Laramie SLT trucks have no body side moldings std. These can be ordered separately and are black.

2. body side moldings that come with Laramie are included in the Laramie package, you can't order separately, and are chrome.

Re:Body Side moulding on '04?

hmmm. the sheet I'm looking at (dealer photocopied it for me) describes all the 03/04 changes for all the trim levels but doesn't cover the sport. nuts. Given the philosophy of the sport package, though, it would REALLY surprise me if the sport laramie had chrome side moldings. the whole approach of the sport is to be more body-colored, no?

crabjoe -

I got the body mouldings on my Patriot Blue SLT (option) and they're black. They look pretty good, if you ask me.

The thing is that I know black will look good with the blue since you get black mirrors and door handles but SWMBO wants BLUE. With her thinking chrome on the moulding but it being Black, I might be able to get her to change her mind. I feel a Black Ram would look just fine next to my Black Expedtion and Black Jeep, and blue just doesn't seem right.

Re:Body Side moulding on '04?

For those interested the chrome side moldings look great. I am very glad I waited for an 04 truck. I also love the silver trim versus the wood grain.

Also, C5, does the 04 sport package have a different grille? I heard it would be billet? Pics?

Re:Body Side moulding on '04?

If plastic is billet it's a billet grill. The grill insert is all chrome plastic. I guess it looks like a billet grill. I'll take a picture of the dash and grill tomorrow and post it. That is if I can connect to the internet. I'll be staying in Sheridan, WY tomorrow night. I'm connected on my cell phone now in the Black Hills of SD.
