Quick Brake question

Okay so i am sitting at work thinking about this. And don't have the truck tore down in front of me.

Do i need to pull the hub off to get the rotor off? I was told that the whole hub assembly comes off together?

After looking at this picture of a 01 a 99 year truck should be the same on brakes correct?
I can just unbolt the caliper and pull the old rotor off correct?

You know, now that you bring it up I'm brain farting. I'm pretty sure you can take the rotor off without pullin the whole hub out. I just can't remember how (I should...I had all that stuff off a couple months ago). I think you have to take off that big ole hub nut right there in the middle and then it'll come off. The hub assy don't come off untill you take off the four bolts in the back of the hub.

It depends.......3500 have to have the entire hub off to change rotors, and some 2500's did too. IIRC, it depends on what axle you have in the front and what GVW.

The axle is a dana 60 with a GVW of 8800 pounds in the front and a spicer 70 in the rear.

On a Dana 60 4wd the hub and rotor are one assembly. The wheel studs need to be pounded out to separate the two.

Think they changed to a slip on rotor in either 2000 or 2001 for the D60.

I know they are not backwards compatible for our 94-99 trucks, thats the real bummer.

Yeah you're right I don't know what I was thinking above (it was late and I was tired I guess) Mine were pretty easy to get out but the devil to get back in

On my 02, the rotors fall off when you pull the calipers off, no need to touch the hub.
