Fass / Airdog?

Is there a way to put a FASS or an Airdog pump on a first gen? Does it pay?

Yes Air dog sells a kit and it the only way to go in my opinion. Makes a world of difference on how smooth truck runs.

I have an airdog 150 on my truck, smoothed it out and about 1 mpg gain, maybe a little more. It would take a while for it to pay for itself, but I also NEVER have to worry about running out of fuel. I got some DDP 70LPM injectors now and it drops from about 17 psi down to 15 at full throttle. After doing a lot of research I believe the airdog to be a better unit than the fass as well.

just wondering what your thoughts were as to why the airdog is better than a fass unit, from what i've been told its a father(FASS),son(AD) company with 2 names but dont quote me on this yet i'll try and get hard proof of that, but with saying that i was told that the Fass was supposedly a little better than the airdog but was always unsure why?

Well An airdog unit is 499.99 and a fass is 6**.** cant remember the fass price. But the Father is the one that actually owns Airdog and the Son owns Fass and there was a big law suit between the two a while back because the son tried to take the patent from the father and needless to say that didn't happen. So the father still has the original patent and the design is better has quieter operation and works more effieciently.

Also the install is pretty much a breeze very easy to do can be done within bout 1 to 2 hours with a lift which at work we have done so many it only takes bout 45 minutes tops

I like the Airdog over the FASS. If you install either system, abandon the stock fuel filter and run the line straight to the injection pump. That tiny filter is a terrible restriction and you will still have ow fuel pressure after spending $500.

In all honesty I'm opposed to electric fuel pumps on principle. I would do a 2nd gen piston pump with a bypass regulator instead.

I've run a few AD's. I like them because they're smaller, dont hang down below the frame, not as loud as the fass, and filters are cheaper.

Bypass regulator? What does this do?

Second gen pump puts out to much pressure. The regulator lets it go back to the tank, rather than blowing out the ip front seal.

The biggest benefit is more and constant fuel pressure. But you can achieve the same results with a second gen piston pump and bypass regulator without relying on an electrical device.

Also more volume of fuel to the IP from the Airdog makes for a cooler running IP.
