Denver Cummins Mechanics
I'm a newbie to the list and have tried running searches to find a good mechanic in the Denver area but thought I'd try a post to see what's the opinion.
I've recently purchased a 2003 CTD 6 speed and should have the basics looked at and 1st oil change, etc. but don't want to go to dealer.
I'm in the Wheat Ridge area west of Denver. Who would you guys recommend? I'm really not interested in a lot of high performance add ons, etc but just to protect my investment.
Thanks,
Joel

County Wide Diesel is the busiest diesel shop in Denver right now because of their reputation and the business they've built but they're around 81st & Quebec in Comm. City. My nephew works there and he knows the 12V's like the back of his hand but he prefers to work on the big stuff and they have a really good guy who likes the P/Us so the rest of the mechanics let him have them all. Doing all the basic maintenance (lubes and filters), cleaning coolers, adjusting the tappets, checking fuel pressure, turbo wear and tightening all the CAC clamps would be my first concerns. See if it has the steel alternator bracket and check it for cracks. Hopefully, it starts, runs and sounds good and doesn't smoke excessively. Craig

Thanks for the Commerce City lead
Thanks Craig for the reply. Sounds like an amazing shop. I've already owned the truck for a few months now so I'm praying none of those serious issues exist. It runs great, gets about 22 mpg and only has a small drip up front, fuel I think but I should get the regular maintenance done since I don't know when it was done before I bought it.

County Wide is a small shop and no Taj Mahals like Cummins RM or KW and they do a lot of work in the yard cuz they can't all fit in the shop. The mechanics are actually cream of the crop, self employed guys who got tired of big shop politics and pay the owner of County Wide a percentage to use his facility. Craig
