Converting to Power Windows/Locks
I would like to upgrade my manual windows and locks to power. I'm figuring that the best way to do this is to find a donor truck at the salvage yard and swap the parts over. Please help me with a few questions.
What year models should I be looking for in a donor truck? Mine is a 2001.5.
Are all of the parts I'll need in the door or is there somthing else that's not real obvious I might miss?

Power locks are a must, windows I'm against. There are many after market power lock kits that are easy to install and you can often find them for very cheap. I paid $25 each for the last 2 kits I bought. The kits I use have no buttons but lock and unlock all doors with the drivers button being pushed down or raised either with a remote or manually. I have used these kits for over 20 years and never had an actuator fail.

I know several of the guys around here that have salvage yards and could get the parts cheap. If I can't find them then I'll go with aftermarket kits. I know that locks are easy but I would like to do windows as well. I would also like to keep the look OE.

I just converted. CARS program has many 1500's in the yards. I got door wire harness, power mirror, power window and door locks out of a 96 and put them in my 94. I got the door panels and switches out of a 2000. 98 and above switches are better(lighted and auto window as well as better mounting). I spliced the wires to use them.
The wires are in the dash. You only need to get the door harness for each side and replace the speaker wire harness with the full harness. It all plugs in and is an easy swap.
I also got seats, tilt wheel, upper console with temp and compass, visors with vanity lights and a new dash. Got a chrome bumper with air dam and driving lamps, grill and headlamps.

Here's a link to the ones I have used. I have run them in all my vehicles except the last two Honda's.http://www.princessauto.com/vmchk/vi...ower+door+lock
Don't forget those prices are in C$ so that's only like $13 American

Well I've called around locally and no one has what I need. I guess I'll wait around a little while a see if something comes in. If not I may have to go aftermarket. Thanks for the replys and help.
