can a guy sell the dpf & cat?
So the dpf & cat have platinum in them. Is there a legal way to sell them for the platinum? We've all heard stories of thieves chopping catalytic convertors off cars at dealers and such. Had a guy that works at Dodge tell me that he was working on his personal car after hours and some, & I quote the term, " gypsys" come bye & offer him 2k a piece for any dpfs' that were around so they could sell them. I'm assuming they had a rather nefarious hook up to sell them.
So where I'm going with this is... can we recoup a portion of our cost to perform deletes by selling the cat & dpf?

Hey Kerry
Just a bit of advice. For what you are going to get for them Id store them away.
Couple of what if scenarios.
What if you have to trade/sell the truck. No one ever plans on doing it, but unforseen issues may make it so.
What if the EPA wins and we do have to put this crap back on, for testing anyway.
Go to the dealer and price this system. Youre gonna fall over backwards. Upwards of 2 grand.
Tuck it away, covered and secure, where no dirt gets in, and no mice move in, and let it stay.
Just in case.

Several months ago the street behind me was hit by several people using battery powered sawzalls and got 4 catalytic converters off newer SUV's and nobody heard a thing.
They also use a hand cutter that cuts through the pipe with very few strokes.
I would hang on to them if they were good, a new cat for my Volvo was $1500 from the dealer but I got one for $150.00.
Here the Gypsy's are called illegals.

Good point Blake. you guys are right. I've got a huge shed. I'll plastic wrap them & store them away. I hope the terrorist organization known as the epa doesn't win. Between them & the d.o.e. we're not allowed to have any fun anymore.

Had to do a recovery on a weapon that was stolen from the Army many years ago and I found it in a plastic bag 3 weeks after it disappeared. The weapon was virtually destroyed, it looked like it had been soaking in salt water.
