To sell or not to sell

Posted this over on TDR, and wanted to get more opinions on the subject. I'm torn on what to do

Got a phone call today from a guy wanting to buy my truck. Don't have an ad out or anything, he just saw it and tracked down my number. I told him I really like it, and it's my baby, but everything is for sale, and if it's worth more to you than it is to me, it's yours.....for $12,500. That would be enough to get me into a (don't be mad ) 97 extended cab 4x4. What do you guys think, should I sell it if he calls back? I'm not budging on the price. What would it take to part with yours? I do love my truck, but like I said, everything is for sale, and I would really love an extended cab. Plus all my buddies that I taught to work on diesels have bought 2nd gens and it's only a matter of time before I'm the bottom man on the totem pole as far as power goes, and we just can't have that.
AJ

Oh yeah, even if he doesn't call back, it sure makes you feel good to have someone want to buy your truck that bad

considering i bought mine for cheap and it is still in awsome shape other than paint in some spots. id let mine got 8-9 if it came to it and i had somethign else to buy. but i want to hold onto mine and use it as a daily driver to work and back. get rid of my current beater daily driver and also use teh wifes jetta and get teh wife a 97-98 extra cab CTD for her driving duties. that way we still have a 4 cylinder gasser for quick trips to teh store etc....

but like you say everythign has a price!

12.5 sounds high and maybe he will get a break. but these things sell for that in certain regions. usually i see them for around 9-10ish in good to great shape. but people are holding onto them so to get them to budge the $$$$$$ goes up!

I said it's worth $12,500 to me. Doesn't mean it really is, but that is what it would take to get it away from me. Hell you could buy my dog for the right price, but it would take a lot more than he's worth. See where I'm coming from? Like I said, I'm not actively trying to sell it. He wanted to buy it, and that's what I decided it would take.... but I'm having second thoughts on parting with my baby.

There was a 93 250 auto 4x4 club cab here that was listed for 13K and I belkive it sold. Prices vary per location. Make sure you can replace it for what you have or will get. I loved my 93, but 2nd gen upgrades are nice, interior, seat, visibility, etc.

Well I just SOLD mine for $13,000.00 CASH MONEY......but I guess the difference is with my trucks, they are VERY clean, and when I say they are ready for the road, it means all NEW brakes, tires, serviced polished, etc etc......you get what you pay for, I guess you could buy a pile of #$%^ and then spend 4 K in it.......the choice is yours.......CANUCKTRUCKS

You just want to jump to a smoother ride, don't you. No, you just want to get bitten again from the BOMBing bug and start all over again on a 97

I think that price is high for your 92 but I do see you have a lot into it for mods. I think I would possibly buy it if I went for a drive in a stock 92 and then yours with those mods. If you could show the difference, it would be easier to sell it, unless of course you have the person that is just dying to get your truck....like he is

I think he has a dealers license too. I could tell him I'd trade for a 97 4x4 ext cab 5 speed in good shape with under 200k and a virgin pump...... hmmmm. Save me the trouble of finding one somewhere across the country and then having to go get it......

I'd sell it, too. My 93' D250 club cab is being sold for $9500 right now! He gave me $7000 down, and in 2 more months when he gets the last $2500 he gets the truck! I know what you mean: last night my kids drove me nuts...I almost listed them on Ebay!
Anyhow, I'd get rid of that roughriding,squeaky,30 year old body in a heart beat. I'd take a newer one anyday.
Then, when I run into more money I'll be back looking for another 1st genner
face it...once you're bitten, you're bitten!!!

uhm traitors,

i aint selling my first gen, and really not for a measly 12k, but then not many of them out there with 62,082 miles on em and im not sure if you can replace a perfect truck, that you know is dependable for 12 and not have to put more into it.
