Air Ride Seats

Anyone ever consider installing an air suspension kit for their seats? National makes a couple for Ford and Chevy pickups, I bet with a little fab work one could make them work. Any thoughts....

On a related topic anyone ever buy a National seat for their big-rig. My seats are toast and thought this could be a nice option.

I was just at the local Kenworth dealer picking up a cummins lift pump for my truck, talk about cool seats. They had a showroom full of them! A lot of take offs from new trucks, tons of colors and priced around $300 a piece. Not sure if they were 'air ride', but for a new bucket that's fully adjustable and swivels that's not a bad price.

Take a look at industrialseats.com and you will find they make a Dodge 03 and up air frame to match their seats. The problem comes with the extended cab seat belt being built into the seat for the quad cabs. If you have frame mount shoulder belts they make the entire seat and bracket or seperate. National seats also have the chugger snubber option where the seat can move for and back to take the jar out of sharp breaks in the road. PK

Rammtuff, where did you guys buy yours from and if you don't mind me asking what did you pay for the susp. and comp.

We have a local Boyer just down the street, they carry National seats. I am going to have to stop down there and check out their prices.

I thought I was going to be laughed off the forum, it's great to know I am not the only one with a sore back...

We got our bases from National. Herb retrofitted a superduty base to his 2nd gen. They won't rec'd you use one with the integral seat belts. A class 8 seat is way too high to use. Expect to have $400 into it with fab work (if you do it) and compressor, tank, valve and seat base. (I have more $$ in it but I bought an Air Zenith 200 psi compressor for my train horns) Call them direct they will ship to your door. I had to modify the brackets to get more headroom. But it works well.

I thought of replacing the bench seat with an air ride. I ended up going to my local junk yard and getting some nice heated power leather seats from a Caddy for $175 a pair. It took a while to make a mount for them but they are nice and comfy.
