48RE question
I just purchsaed a 2005 DRW with a 5.9L and 48RE with 66,000 miles.
I have read alot about these trans on here and understand what everyone is talking about with the 2nd and 3rd gear change.
i have put about 3,500 miles on it and the one thing I feel is like a double shift into Hi gear, or 5th gear. When empty its not to bad, when I pull about 12,000# 5er it hits hard but not terrible hard and still has the double shift feel?
Is this common? Has anyone else felt this. Hope trans is not going already?
Thanks in advance for any help
Scott

My 06 does exactly the same thing and has done it from the day I drove it off the dealer's lot, which was 82,000 miles ago.
Is it supposed to do that? I don't know.

My '03 48re does it and I have only owned the truck a short time, but I kinda cringe each time it happens. It seems to be when I let off the juice and it happens to shift at the same time, it kinda stutters.
It's not a great feeling with the torque of the diesel it's amplified...
But it hasn't broken yet!

Ok guys, once again thanks for the help.
I did a complete fluid change as well maybe it will get better.
It does do it in T/H or not, once again not real hard but stiff for sure.
Sounds like it may be common thing. Oh well I will run it hard and see what happens.
Thanks again,
Scott
