191's are in need advice on egt's

I just installed the 191 delivery valves and it really added a nice kick to the low end but know my egt's at wide open throttle go way up from where they were( 1200*) my 6 plate is full forward can I slide that to the rear to controll high rpm fueling and not hurt the power much???

Yes,sliding the plate back will help. It's either that or a larger turbo & or housing.

well I moved it about halfway forward and that help quite a bit but I can still get into the red it amazes me how quickly it will climb in egt's now with these valves seems like a more even power I will have to put a load behind it and see what it will do. Will sliding the plate back hurt power any or will the larger dv's make up for what the plate is limiting????

Sliding the plate back will take care of the egts but you will lose power.
If the loss isn't acceptable it's time to look at a new turbo.

Infidel will I loose power just on the top end or across the power band? I am beginning to wonder if the little it added on the bottom is worth all the extra heat? Do you know if I will just loose some of what was gained with the dv's or will I loose more than that? What about just changeing the exhaust hsg to a 14 wastegated how much would that help? Or going to 4inch exhaust?

Just a 14cm housing will probably do the trick.
Didn't realize you still had the stock exhaust, at least loose the cat first then see where you're at

Infidel the kitty is dead I am running a terminator muffle it is similar to a flowmaster do you think looseing the muffler would help. I changed the overflow valve at the same time I did the dv's I got them from marty at precision diesel he told me that the new overflow valve changes the charge pressure from 18 to 25 psi do you think this added to the change in egt,s before I added all this I had the 6 full forward and did not have to watch the gauges now I am about halfway in the middle and it still will go over 1250 if i were to let it.

The muffler you have is free flowing, it shouldn't make much difference. I'd start by sliding the plate back, it's free, if the power loss isn't acceptable go for a 4'' exhaust, see what it does, if not enough 14 cm housing should take care of it. You should be done after all this. lol

Maybe you should check your timing, could make a difference in your egt's.

I like 16.5 on my '95s but some folks say 19° is even better. I've never tried going that high myself.
My guess is that you are between 250 and 300 hp.

These guys are excellent to talk turbos with, give them a call http://www.htturbo.com/

They can provide a fast turn around exchange and even trick out your new housing for better efficiency.

Infidel I reset timing to 17* lost some low end torque and could not notice any egt reduction so I set it back to 15.5 I like the low end well I thought I would move the plate to cool it some more and I checked the governor lever and it was hitting above the largest tip of the #6 plate so I set it down to where it was 1/16 to1/8 th below the tip slid the plate rearward about another1/16 well went for a ride and could barely get it to about 1150 pushing it hard and hardly any smoke so I slid the plate forward about 1/8th then tried it again and at wide open throttle and about 80mph it went to about1300* then I let off but pulling the hill just below my house I could not get over 1200* is it the curve of the plate that changes at different rpm's It is much more controlable now I cannot beleave the difference.
