5.9 in a Ford??
Hello,
I have a 2000 Ford powerstroke the motor runs great, hands down. But I want more power and more go for towing, so I see the only opition is a juiced up cummins. I want to use the Ford 4r100, so I dont have to get a transfercase adapter or change my gear changer in the dash. I know I will have to beef up the transmission (its slipping now.)
My question is what motor do I look for. I want the newer 5.9 from 2003 to 2006, I want to stay away from all emissions that I can. Should I look for one out of a standard dodge or an auto.
I know I will need an adapter and flex plate.
What problems will I run into doing this swap?
Im not affraid to do fab work, and I can do all the labor myself.
Any pictures or comments I would appreciate all advice.
Thank You,
Holden

Put in a 94-98 5.9 12 valve you wont regret it. They have no emmisions crap on them to deal with. Try to find one out of a manual truck, they have more stock hp, The 94 and 95 have a slightly smaller hp pump and the 96-98 have the larger 215hp pump, with a few mods you wont be able to tell a difference in any of them. They are all mechanical, no electrical stuff. Therefore easier to install in you truck and they are easier and cheaper to mod up and are capable of way more horsepower than you need. They are the best cummins by far in my opinion and I know there are lots of guys on here who agree with me. They are also the most fuel effiecent of all the cummins. Do some research on them and everyone else will tell you the same thing. Try fordcummins.com theres lots of stuff on there that can help you out. I though about doing the swap into my 99 powerstroke I had but just went out and bought a dodge, kinda wish I'd done what your doing cause I think ford makes a better truck and drivetrain than dodge does.
