Trans Solenoid issue

A year ago (literally), I replaced the original pressure solenoid and sensor. I "upgraded" to the kit that SunCoast Diesel (and many others) sell. Here I am a year later and experiencing the same issues. Specifically, after the truck gets warm, it doesn't shift at the right times, I get a shudder shift, etc.

SunCoast only sells the kit so I can't just replace the solenoid evidently. I'm a little irked by this and I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction of where to find the replacement solenoid. I know it is a Borg Warner but that is it. SunCoast gave me a part number of "D-CF1" but I think this is for the kit, not the solenoid itself.

Please understand, this is not a SunCoast issue other than I can't just buy the solenoid.

The second q I have is, should I replace the solenoid or just the sensor? Everything I read when I did the upgrade was that this upgrade was a cure-all for these issues. The truck shifted much better after doing the upgrade and has worked great for the past year. I'm thinking the more likely culprit is the sensor but I don't want to drop the pan and do all the work just to have to re-do it because the issue was the solenoid (I've always been told to do both at the same time).

Would love to get some thoughts on this. I've only put 10-12,000 miles since doing upgrade last year so this is just annoying. Granted, a $200 fix is much better than a tranny replacement.

Thanks!

The solenoid is made by Borg Warner. It probably has a part number on it somewhere. Take the solenoid down to your local NAPA store, and they can probably match it up for you.

True, but that would require me having the truck down and out while I did that and I'm trying to avoid that. Plus, if they don't have it, I'm stuck while I find it online. Hoping I can find the part number ahead of time and line it all up so I can get it done on a weekend.

Borg Warner now makes a larger solenoid - I just replaced the solenoid and sensor in my 06 a couple of months ago and it's working great.

Any chance you could tell me more about where you got this and how to tell if its the larger solenoid?
Does it shift right with a load on the truck also?

I did find the specific solenoid. If you have one of the new, billet piece, it uses a solenoid from a GM. I don't have the part number with me since I am traveling but I will post the Borg Warner part number when I get home. I found it for $33 or so. Much better than the $140 or more to replace the billet piece as well.

Thanks for all the help. I am curious about the larger solenoid as well. Is that a direct replacement for the stock one?

I found it at DogHouse Diesel - here is the website:

After the install, my truck shifts perfectly - so far no issues at all - I'm pleased with how it's working.
