question on duel batterys if disconnected

here goes ,onthe cummings 5.9 with duel batterys when you need to have batterys checked for condition i am told the only way is to remove the battery from veh. and have it tested with a tester that puts a heavy load on it. and it should have a full charge when test is made. the question is if only one battery is removed at a time for test will the remaining battery supply power for any stored imfo. on veh. computer, if only one battery is hooked up.any info would be helpful thanks from GUY1996 nov.20-12

Yes, you can disconnect one at a time and the computer will stay powered up.

I would tend to agree but last week my neg post connector on my starboard battery came apart. Lights came on in the dash and the truck shut down. It needed something from that battery alone to run the engine. I put it all back together with no problems or memory loss.
