Disconnected w/g is it bad???
I disconnected my w/g boost line and plugged it. Now finally i can get around 20 psi.I am a newbie and was wondering the ill effects.I have a Banks kit on a 92 all else stock. The turbine is 14cm from what i am told.it appears the compressor is stock.i have no info on the banks setup- all info appreciated.Pump was allegedly tweeked slightly per Banks. It is much more driveable. It seemed it used to blow open around 10-12 psi.Now it will boost sooner and i can mat it up to 20. Also noticed I can almost get 3k out of it What is it governed at stock? If thats ok then what should i do for more boost(change the compressor side?) I like to drive it daily and occasionally tow.I don't like constant smoke.all input is greatly appreciated. Also why did they put on a w/g if the compressor only makes 20 psi and you guys run 40? Sorrry i am longwinded. Thanks!
It takes fuel to make boost. You don't have enough fuel to make more than 20 psi. You won't hurt anything running around with the wastegate disconnected. You still have the stock governor spring.
If you were to crank the pump up some more, the wastegate would start to come in handy. That Banks unit is adjustable, too - it's a setup.
