Hmmm...buy 3, get 1 free on ProComp Xtreme A/Ts at 4 Wheel Parts. Not a lot of size choices, but I was thinking about 305/65R17 for a little more width, but almost the same diameter as where I am now (~0.2 inches shorter)

I'm running Toyo MT's on the 07 and they wear well, balance great, and are very quiet for a mud tire. My 99 runs a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers. They wear about like an MT and perform well in the sand. Thay also helped on traction on wet pavement. I've run toyo at's and would'nt recommend them for anything rougher then wet grass.

I tried buying tires a 4 WP one time. Buy the time they add all of their add on's, it was not a very good price at all. May not be the same now, but then they wanted something like $90 each for their tire warranty, $50, or so, shop fee, etc. I went back to Discount Tire.

I've heard that before.
Since your not mounting them now anyway......
I'd buy there and take them to someplace local to get them mounted and balanced.

Should work....same price at 4WD as Internet price (without shipping).

I'm running the Terra Grapplers as well now... (Uh hmm... BEFORE Robert got his! j/k Robert..)

Like the tread, like the ride, and Love the 3640# rating!! Pulled a loaded 40+5 out of a wet hay field the other day no problem, still a bit squishy in parts out there...

Thanks for the heads up. Going to go to their Coppell or Plano store this week and take a look and see what their price is.

Since I'd have to get the tires before 9/30 and won't have rims by then, I'll probably end up having them mounted elsewhere.

I was told one time by one of the guys at Discount Tire that you can buy tires anywhere you want and then go there to buy the lifetime rotate/balance/road hazard certificates for the same price. Might have to check back into that. That's the main reason I've always worked through DT was to get the rotate/balance for free, as well as getting any tires fixed/replaced in case of flats.

Yeah, I noticed. Was going to ask the guy about them and it got deleted between the time I copied the e-mail address and the when I clicked "Send".

If I had been thinking, I would have grabbed those as soon as I saw them.

Discount tire is the BEST.

and yes you can still get the cert's on any tire you bring in as long as it is a tire they sell*

4WP warranty is a huge hassle, also there are not stores on every corner like DT. The floor/ service manager in Coppell is a real nice guy, Can't think of his name. REMEMBER that they can be haggled down in price like a used car salesman.

I didn't notice that you had Nitto TGs. I wasn't copying you on getting Nittos but I was following your lead on downsizing the tires from the 35's. I don't regret the downsize one bit.....but I wasn't going down to 265 stockers. That is just to little. The 285/75/17.....is my new permanent tire size!

Why didn't you guys just ask? I've been running 285/75's for eight years. Ha!

I do think that going to 17's would probably improve my ride though.

Form.... and Function!
Both are important. That's why you never see an ugly sailboat! No one would buy it. Wish I could say same for all CTD's.
If I towed as much, and as heavy as Brian, I would probably go with 285's also.

But for me, I'd like to go the other way!
Pro Comp makes an Xtreme A/T in 37x12.5x17. No wider than my 35's but fills wheel well even better!
Would need longer control arms to clear body and would probably want 3.72 rear end .... so just a pipe dream at this point.
But doesn't hurt to have a goal to keep the old girl fun to drive after 7 yrs!

Last time I kept a vehicle for 7 yrs was ......................................... never

I think you were running 285/70s.....not 285/75s. Totally different tire size.

The 285/75s are a taller tire...........34'' or so. But they are not wide and heavy like 35s. As far as I know, I have only seen that size with Nitto and Toyo.
