TX DTR #8 - September thread
Since it's already the second day of September...for me at least. I figured it's time for a new thread. Especially since the old one has been quiet as of late.
Any plans for September? I know October has the drags and a dyno day, but no reason to let September sneak by with nothing going on.

Hi Justin. The only thing I know of going on is the "Laps for Charity" event going on out at Texas Motor Speedway on Sat. Sept. 26th at 6pm.

Is anybody planning to go or want to plan to go?

I saw the e-mail on that one, but I'm out for that day. Got a wedding reception to attend.
I figured the month might be quiet since October will have a couple of things.

Ok, we see how you are. You will drive 22 hours to go see them, but won't drive 6 hours to come see us....
Have a good time Rick.

Im about to make another trip to Mississippi.....
My stepfather (since I was 12 years old) passed away Thursday around 5:00pm. No plans are finalized yet, obviously, but perhaps Friday/Sat. He was 88 years old and basically bedridden the past few weeks/months....so it is a blessing of sorts. I am sure he is in a better place and at peace. It will be a celebration of his life but not an overly emotional event for me. Naturally my mother is upset.
He was in the Army during WW2 and, among other assignments, was at Omaha Beach. Im not sure exactly what his role was there as he didn't like to speak of it. He would not watch the movie "Saving Private Ryan". He was 100 percent DAV after taking schapnel in his left arm and legs.

My condolences Robert. Its hard seeing someone bedridden when you have so much more of the good memories of them. My Grandmother was bedridden in the nursing home and that was hard to go see her and try to smile. Sight like that makes a grown man wanna cry and I'll admit that. I'm relieved that its over now, she is really resting now just as your stepdad. Its what they deserve.
Be safe on your travels as well.
