Spoke w/ guy at BD and was shocked to learn the PROGUARD 7 AFE filter that they ship with their twins costs 13 hp at 500 hp... over the AFE Racing Filters! They use the '7' for max filtration, obviously.

Spoke to RIP and he sells only the AFE Racing Filter, which he says filters very well and more than enough, IHO.
AFE's racing filters are 5 layers thick, instead of 7 layers.

Bgt my size in a AFE race filter ....so we'll see what happens!

Eh who needs a filter for a dyno run!

I have no idea what the CFM rating on my AFE is... Or even which filter it is?? The kit came from RIP so maybe it is the racing??

Based on what he said...I'm sure it is. Blue, Right?
All Blue AFE's are 5 layer. Heck, my first after market filter was a K&N FIPK II. It was only three layers and worked great.
No dust or debris of any kind in my intake tube...... as long as I left it as it came from the factory and didn't over oil it.

I think BD went with the 7 layer at engineers request. I'm sure it works beautifully at stock but I suspect RIP is right and they are just unnecesarily restrictive at higher HP!

I think mine is blue...

Man truck things are just getting put off lately! Still want/need to
1. rebuild Secondary
2. Place thermocouple 'bungs' for monitoring air intake temps (for fun)
3. Install oil temp probe in amsoil bypass filter unit (cause I have it and I can)
4. Install new deep toolbox (Water/meth and nitrous leaves little room for important stuff! like tools, tow strap, tie downs, etc...)
5. Need to get the tires balanced again (It's free and after my ball joints tore up two I need to get it down every 5-10k)
6. Install new quad box, I'm sure he wants the old one back sometime
7. Do 70-100 test for comparisons with and without power adder
8. Tighten Exhaust brake (Only seeing 40lbs at 2800RPM need 60psi)
9. Small air leak to fix
10. Install special remote start relay for high idle/ exhaust brake operation
11. Install WTS relay
12. Rust specs from BFG debris need to be fixed before spreading....
13. Hmmm what else front end could probably use a greasing..
14. Oh been wanting to pul my old shifter back in to see if I like it better than the short throw.

Just too dang cold and windy for me to be motivated!!

Well that's good to know... I'm going to try and do it myself for the first time... Doesn't look too bad.. I have the holset manual and the rebuild kit..

Hoping to break 600 but we will see!

Mine with just an intake would make 270hp, you won't make it that well just set on stock being yours is an S.O. but mine isn't supposed to be that high anyway. With the edge juice you should make well into the 300's.

Agree with Matt. 300 hp should be easily doable.

Harrumph - very funny!

Rowland, did you finally get around to installing that new disgronificator on the primary exhaust housing?

my red roadster went into the shop today, such a sad story.... on my drive home (mansfield to bedford) my truck died about 15 times. when i push in the clutch to decel it sputters then dies.

hopefully they willl get it fixed and I HOPE my aftermarket warranty i purchased will foot the bill.
