texas ctd,

i am not sure what it is it has had those symptoms to a lesser extent for the last year. and they hav e not been able to find the problem, b/c apparently they could not duplicate the same results i was having.

so today when it died probably a grand total of 30 times between 530 am- 530pm, i came home pulled out the edge in a fit of rage and took it up to allen samuels fort worth, i hope that can fix her.

i think it might be the lift pump, she does have 153k miles. and i hear they go bad all to often.

Sounds like it could def. be the lift pump. The dealer is going to want to do the in-tank pump if that is the case. Could be a little more work later to install an aftermarket fuel system, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I still have my original canister mounted lift pump if you want it. It was working fine when we took it off about a year ago. Should be the same from 03-04.5.

i thought they did away with the intank pumps, i thought after the intank pump took a dive they put it somewhere else.

so if it is the tank pump, whenever i do the fass/airdog fuel pump i am going to have to pull the tank one they just installed?

Yes you would have to remove the one they just installed. Or at least drop the tank to put in another draw straw.

The 03-04.5 trucks have the lift pump mounted on the fuel filter canister on the driver side of the engine. Starting in 05, they moved the lift pumps to the fuel tank. They do better in tank. The pumps "prefer" to push the fuel rather than pull it from the tank. So they seem to have less problems with the pumps......and since then they have started retrofitting all Dodge trucks to the intank style....even 2nd gens.....if you take it to the dealer for repair.
They work fine for stock power (or even a little more). But if you want to "Bomb" your truck and more fuel supply becomes necessary you will have to replace the factory pump with a FASS or Walbro or something.

If you just need a pump to get you by until you replace yours with an aftermarket pump, my old stocker may work for a while for you. It has been sitting in my garage for almost a year though.

well heck it has been my plan to do the fass pump, so i might aswell just go get my truck after they tell me o yes it is the pump.

and order the fass and just go ahead and install that. and be done with it.

1-10 wrench rating being 10 the most difficult whats this install rated.

price is about $900 correct?

Should be $499-700 depending on if you want the fuel filters (the actual F.A.S.S. part of the F.A.S.S. system) or just the pump. It gets harder the less room you have, like a 2wd short bed, will be hard just because of the space you don't have to work with. bnold is one to talk to about putting them on.

took us about 2-3 hours to do it... With basically one man running the show with one or two more handing tools and helping put the tank back in... It can easily be done with 2 people in a couple of hours if you have no distractions

On your truck....your tank pretty much falls out once you get all the hose connection loose….....

Short beds kinda suck, but you do some trimming on the frame bracket, you will be ok. I would say a SB is about a 4-5 on your meter.

How bout them Giants? I have to say im impressed with Eli........

any of my fellow texans had problems reprogramming because of their fass? It freezes up if I leave the fass harness connected to the battery and has no problems when I take it off the battery???????

Voltage Drop.....messing with the tune. Hate to say it but its going to be a dance that you need to do if you are going to reflash. The harness you have works off the stock ECM...so for some reason, the ECM feels the need to run the lift pump when reflashing.

On your truck, its not a big deal if you forget to plug it back in as the CP3 can pull through the FASS. BUT you can rig up a toggle switch on the trigger wire if you want to kill the pump when you tune.....that might be the best way....

At last!
I have a new task for my fuel pump cutoff switch (3rd from left):

... originally was supposed to be a theft-deterrent, before I realized the CP3 would draw through the in-tank LP.

Dont want to post in the General or anything cause it always get out of hand!

In the market for my first uh hmm... legally owned hand gun.
Looking for a .40 cal semi easily concealed semi auto...

Main areas of interest that I have seen in my price range that I like are:
1. Glock 23 (winner so far)
2. XD40
3. Glock 27

Pros Cons that I see right now
1. Glock 23 is proven and a great all around gun, parts are easily obtained, shoots great right out of the box. Cons: fairly wide profile, not the prettiest gun in the world (But I kinda like that... Gun is all business, doesn't need any bling), and the trigger pull is fairly heavy ($30 replaces the spring)
2. XD40... Actually fits a bit nicer in my hand, price is good, looks are good as well, extra thrumb safety (Not sure yet whether that is a pro or a con for me yet... hmm); Cons Parts made in Croatia!! HATE that idea, parts can be hard to find, jambing or fail to fire reports are higher than the Glocks, I have NOT shot this gun yet, but my (trusted) friend tells me they are fairly crude in their operation (reason he went with the Glock)
3. Glock 27 Pros: All of the same of the 23, but is much more easily concealable Cons; need a dang grip extender to even try and be comfortable in my hand.... Think this one is out unless others can convince me otherwise.

I want a good all around... I will be shooting often back home, want accuracy. It will spend lots and lots of time chillin in my door pocket (Jetta or Dodge), dont expect to personal carry that often really if ever....

I think the above points me to a compact (Glock 23/XD40), but not a subcompact (27)...

All opinions welcome... Other brands welcome as well... I've narrowed my search quite a bit but welcome others with a good reason... Oh and I've looked at and shot my buddies para and man that thing is nice but at $1100 its well outside my price range... I'm looking <$650

Thanks guys!

Oh and yes the CCW paperwork is sitting right here... Will be doing this legally
