In the market for my first uh hmm... legally owned hand gun.
Looking for a .40 cal semi easily concealed semi auto...

Main areas of interest that I have seen in my price range that I like are:
1. Glock 23 (winner so far)
2. XD40
3. Glock 27

Pros Cons that I see right now
1. Glock 23 is proven and a great all around gun, parts are easily obtained, shoots great right out of the box. Cons: fairly wide profile, not the prettiest gun in the world (But I kinda like that... Gun is all business, doesn't need any bling), and the trigger pull is fairly heavy ($30 replaces the spring)
2. XD40... Actually fits a bit nicer in my hand, price is good, looks are good as well, extra thrumb safety (Not sure yet whether that is a pro or a con for me yet... hmm); Cons Parts made in Croatia!! HATE that idea, parts can be hard to find, jambing or fail to fire reports are higher than the Glocks, I have NOT shot this gun yet, but my (trusted) friend tells me they are fairly crude in their operation (reason he went with the Glock)
3. Glock 27 Pros: All of the same of the 23, but is much more easily concealable Cons; need a dang grip extender to even try and be comfortable in my hand.... Think this one is out unless others can convince me otherwise.

I want a good all around... I will be shooting often back home, want accuracy. It will spend lots and lots of time chillin in my door pocket (Jetta or Dodge), dont expect to personal carry that often really if ever....

I think the above points me to a compact (Glock 23/XD40), but not a subcompact (27)...

All opinions welcome... Other brands welcome as well... I've narrowed my search quite a bit but welcome others with a good reason... Oh and I've looked at and shot my buddies para and man that thing is nice but at $1100 its well outside my price range... I'm looking <$650

Thanks guys!

Oh and yes the CCW paperwork is sitting right here... Will be doing this legally

Love my .45 APC S&W Cheif's Special.......but too heavy to carry fully loaded (Would be a door rider like RJ's if anything).....SO im looking for a .357 Snub for my carry.....BUT i need to get my CHL first.......

Can't go wrong with a Glock...and EVERYONE makes acc's for them....

Got a really good friend that teachs Swat teams and such.....he might be able to get you a better idea of what would be a good fit for you....cuz that is what it all boils down to......

For concealed carry, go with the Glock 27. I have to carry a 23 on duty, and think it's a bit too big for concealment. Personally, I carry a 3" 1911 for off-duty use. I've trusted and used the 1911 for years. If you want, I can bring three grip extenders for a Glock to the Alvarado meet. This will be my first event, and what better way to get acquainted than to bring free gifts.

I think it really depends on what kind of concealed carry you want... I hung my Glock 17 under my left shoulder for several years no problem - got to where I felt undressed without it - but no way that sucker was gonna ride on my ankle!

As far as weight goes - IMO, there's no such thing as a heavy Glock.

May take you up with that offer if I decide to go the 27 route!

Do you still think it would be the best all around option for me even though I don't plan on personal carrying often? For the most part the most concealed it will be in the door... But it may be a good to have the option of carrying on person... hmmm dang back to 3 options again! Ahhh this is a tough one for me!

Glad you are going to join us!!

Just glancing at it...makes sence to me at least......Looks like you are going to trigger your High idle off the aux circut off the remote start....should work fine......but what looks good on paper.........

Ya that should be the easiest of all three... I'm not sure how the auxiliary relay I have for the remote start will react to a little back feed if no diode is used.... Guess I'll find out! Don't want to go to Radio Shack!

your 17 is about an inch longer and 3/4" taller than the 23....

Look at the Sigsaur. For me, it was a toss up between the Glock 27 and the Sig....I opted for the Sig. The first time I fired it was to take my CC renewal.....scored 98.

I think it is a model 26. It's a 9mm and I don't remember the 40 cal model number. My son-in-law that's on the Collin County SO has been carrying it for the past two years. He was never a gun person and qualified with it on his first trip to the range when he was in the academy.

well good news. the local dodge house has told me 100% its the lift pump. my aftermarket warranty would not cover all of it. if i want the dodge house to take care of it it would cost me $360ish out of pocket. so i might as well spring the cash for FASS or AirDog or similar product.

the problems i am having are:

1. i have no idea which one to get, what GPH, and PSI range or whatever.

1. the truck will most likely never go over the 425HP range, if so not by very much. so i dont think i need super high powered.

2. i think i would like to have one with the 2 canister set up, water seperator, and filter.

2. i would like to find a LOCAL shop, within about 50 miles. of my house (bedford) that will work with me and work with my aftermarket warranty.

if i have to pay more than $360 out of pocket for the GOOd fuel system thats not a problem, might as well do it RIGHT.

any shop referals?? phone number, website??

I REALLY APPRECIATE y'alls feedback. i believe i would be lost without the help of this wonderful website.

It's prob a Sig P226 model. Mine is a 2 tone P226 .357 Sig. with the Double Action Kellerman Trigger system and Trijicon night sites and slide on light rails. Awesome weapon! Particularly with the rounds we carry in them!....that aren't available to the public. Surgeons just can't sew you up after taking a hit from one of them.

Anyway, you can get the Sig P226 in 9mm, .357, or .40 s and w. They are not cheap, but they are hard to beat. http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/Sho...7&productid=61

Nothing wrong with a Glock either...by the way. I just prefer the Sig. Brian, If you want to take a closer look at it....I can bring it to Alvarado.
