DTR #8 November and December 2009 Thread
OK.....Sorry. I remember putting new ones on at Charlie's like it was yesterday.
Can't remember leaving with the old yellow/blue ones?? They only had about 15,000 on them.
Think I'll look under the front end on 'Big Red' next time I get to Sedalia

Well, the answer to the fuel filter drain question is that you can get it separately. Just picked one up in McKinney for $30. I'll have to add that to the immediate projects list because I get tired of smelling diesel and always having to make sure I don't have a bigger leak anywhere.
As for the tires, I'll have to check out that shock this weekend. In the mean time, here is what the wear looks like.
Inside edge

Middle

Outside edge

Front tire - kept at 60-62psi

Rear tire - usually running about 45psi, they have 52psi in them right now because my ATV is in the bed. You can see the wear on the lugs based on which ones picked up dirt from the driveway and which ones didn't. This had been on the front prior to my last alignment about 10K ago.

Golly Justin - the front tires on my '98 have been doing that since it was new... come to think of it - the '05 is the same way!
Darn solid front axles - the BJs suck.
Not sure if it was epoxy-based, Daniel - but I repaired the leaking transfer case on Rob's 2nd Gen with marine putty (sic)... should be able to get some at AutoZone or equivalent.
Make sure it has a poll with several choices, and don't forget to

I was hoping you wouldn't mention ball joints. Didn't want to have to deal with them again...
All you'll find is Rancho's.
When mine had the same wear patten as yours, a front end alignment fixed it. I was surprised at how much wear there was in on 5 or 6 hundred miles. Guess that old, heavy Cummins takes it toll on the front end.
Thanks Mike, I'll have to see what they have here in Lampasas and pick up a tube of the stuff. So I'm assuming to drain the oil and use brakeklean to clean the surface and then apply the marine putty?

Chopped them bad in little time... Believe it was only one edge as well...
