Can't remember the colors at the moment, but your shift motor should be similiar to my '98 - it's diaphragm is vacuum-ported on both sides, so it can be moved in both directions.

Sounds like 4WD is disengaging on it's own once 4WD is de-selected (if black line is outboard)... might want to splice the red line before driving around ostensibly "out" of 4WD.

Ah.... that's a possiblity.
But it does disengages immediately and easily. No evidence of delay or sticking. Would not expect that.

Splicing a vacume line.... Ideas? Shrinkwrap be good enough?

Sure - it's a very low-pressure system!

What Charlie, you don't like the cold?
At least it keeps the chiggers at bay

The Ranch should be chigger free for a little while after all these cold snaps.

Does anyone know if Dodge sells the water separator drain valve separately from the filter housing? I've got a slow leak on my drain valve that looks like it's coming from the lever, so I'm guessing it will need a new valve. Hoping they don't only sell the whole assembly as a single piece.

2nd question, what should I be looking at as the culprit for uneven tire wear on the passenger front? The outer edge treads of my BFG MTs are wearing much faster than the rest of the tread. I noticed this wear pattern before I rotated front to back the last time, but attributed it to my previous alignment being way out since one of the eccentrics on the control arms was completely out of track. But now it's showing up again on the fronts that were showing even wear when they were moved to the front.

I kind of expected to see uneven wear on the inside of the drivers as well, but it appears to be wearing evenly. Looks like the problem is just on the passenger front.

I have the same problem with the outside wearing, I need an alignment, I just changed the shocks to Bilsteins, it's a much better ride, the front passenger shock took about 2 minutes to rebound once I got it off. They had 115K miles on the original shocks.

well I am alive and warm....

I am not sure how much ya'll heard of the snow storm that BLEW thru but we got around 12 inches and had 3-4 foot snow drifts. (my gripe of gravel roads has temporarily turned into a gripe about miles of muddy gravelly road)

snow came on thurs morning and I was able to make it to town on sat afternoon.... never again will I buy a 2wd truck. very frustrating to spend all this money on a great truck that is not capable in the slightest off the pavement... A bed full of cinder blocks really helped though. Also, 4th gear 2500RPM and dumping the clutch will get you moving, and smarty on KILL is a bad idea on icy roads a little to sensitive.

the pipes froze on sat. when it got down to 3 degrees. thawed out and no leaks.

side note. rear pads and shoes are on my list along with front shocks. shocks have 193K and I assuming the rear brakes are original too.

NEVER MIND!

It would help if the parts guy gives you the right bulbs and it don't take two hours to notice it.

HELP!

I've lost the fox on changing out a headlight bulb! Got them out, but can't get the gray ring to lock. Is the red o-ring suppose to go inside the light housing? I can get the ring on without the bulb, but not with the bulb on.

Call me if you have any tips!

I lube up that sealing O ring with a touch of saliva to help it slide in. I am sure water works too.

That might explain some uneven wear!

How are yours, Justin? New TV and factory shocks?

Mike what kind of epoxy can I use to seal up my small oil leak? Leaking between the girdle and block. Just need a fix until I can get a place to pull the motor after this summer and fix it for good.

They are Bilsteins (the originals, not the 5100s), I'd have to check back to see how long ago they went on. Thinking they probably have about 50K on them.

Think I sold you those...no? At Charlie's?
Vaguely remember that... when I went with the longer ones (5100's) due to 2" front lift??
If that's right... I just checked and it was July, 2006 when I put 5100's on at GTG.

Dang, my Bilsteins have 90,000 on them! Anyone know how long they last. Think I'll start a thread and ask.

No, it wasn't me. I had a set of Ranchos on it when I pulled the originals off. Then swapped over to the Bilsteins when the Ranchos weren't cutting it.

Maybe it is time for replacement. Right now, it seems like every bump on the front end is a sharp one. At least the passenger side is the easy one to get out and check so I can see what kind of shape it's in.
