Who makes the "best" & most heavy duty receiver hitch plate?
I have a Class 6 Air Ride Hitch with 20,000lb. capacity, 2,000lb. tongue weight, and a 30,000lb. ball. The problem is that I have greatly exceded the capacity of the receiver hitch plate that came with my truck. I think it is only rated to 12 or 14K. Who makes the best receiver plate that uses a 2" draw bar that has the highest capacity?
Thanks!

Scoggins,
Is this the one to which you are referring?
http://www.rigidhitch.com/pages/pdfs/PAGE-189.pdf
If so, it contradicts itself by saying in the same specs that it has a 1400 max tongue weight and a 2000 max tongue weight. Also, it seems to only be good for 14,000. Isn't that the same as our stock ones ?

If your still using a 2" receiver, your not going past class 4. You need to get to 2-1/2" stinger. Also, never heard of a class 6. Class 5 is the highest of all I can find.

Here is my Class 6 Receiver Hitch :http://www.airridehitch.com/receiver...es.html#Class6
It takes a 2" bar. If I go to 2 1/2", I could go up to Class 9!

D.Wiggs,
You are referring to your DRAWBAR not your hitch, this is why the confusion. I dont beleive that there is a hitch over class 5 right now in a receiver style. There are heavier hitches out there but only in one piece, no removable receiver. The website in your post is using some bad advertising...they are rating their drawbars by 'class' which is suppossed to be used only for the receiver portion of the hitch. I will look for a link to the one piece that i am referring to.

This is exactly what I was thinking. First thing I would do, was read the label on what's bolted under your truck. See what it's rated for. The peice you pin in there has no bearing on the hitch capacity unless it's the weak point.
I was wonder too, what vehicle are you using to pull these loads?

You could consider the putnam xdr class V hitch. It requires removal of some of the factory hitch then attaches to the hitch, bumper and frame (further up) It uses a 2" receiver.
There is a thread on here with pictures of it.

You will be a lot better off going to a 2.5 inch system if you can find it. Also, the Air Ride Hitch has this on their website.
"When Weight Distribution Bracket is used on any Air Ride receiver hitch you must reduce tongue weight capacity by 20%, example… Class 5 –
1,400 tongue weight reduces to 1,120 lbs, Class 6 – 2,000 lbs to 1,600 lbs, Class 8 – 3,000 lbs to 2,400 lbs."

D.Wiggs! I have been looking for someone who has used one of those hitches
I haul travel trailers for a living and the jerking I get from them is about to kill me,but I'm scared to spend the cash on something like that, does it work as good as they advertise? It's alot of darn money, and I've had bad experience with "Money Back Garrantee" before (Anyone want a used Workhorse "Power Module"?) $700 bucks was WAAAyyyy more than it was worth..
