whats the trick to remove electric brake drums?

whats the trick to remove electric brake drums?

The electric brakes need some maintenance on my trailer but i cant get the drums off? Is there a secret that im overlooking? is it different than vehicles?

no trick just back off the shoes, sometimes you have to back them off pretty far because they will wear a pretty good lip. also try tapping them with a hamer to break them loose

on my popup the wheel bearings need to come off with the drum to remove it

You should be able to feel if it is hanging up on the shoes, as you won't be able to turn the drum.

If you can still turn the drum, but can't pull it off, it's possible the inner bearing is somewhat stuck on the spindle. In that case a good yank should do it. If the bearing spun onto the spindle, though, you may have to use a puller to either get the bearing free, pull the seal out of the hub, or mangle the seal by pulling it over the bearing. Buy new seals anyway, as it's just not worth the couple bucks you would save to reuse old ones.

Both Dexter and Al-Ko have very nice downloadable pdf manuals for free.

Under "Service Information" select complete service manual.

It is worth it to save both to your hard drive.
