Need Advise

Which to use, Air-bags or add-a-leaf on a 2006 2500 mega cab. When the
5er is hooked up it really squats. Thanks in advance for any advise.

Airbags allow you to maintain the "softer" ride when unloaded where as an Add-a-leaf will maintain a more "rugged" ride all the time. Additionally, airbags offer the ability to make incremental changes depending on weight, help to bring the headlight back down to earth, with the overload will be progressive, the more you add, the more it will squat. And, they have made the airbags install so much easier now.... Hard to beat the adjustability, ride, and ease of install of the airbags (though if I had this to do again, I'd probably installed the PacBrake airbags over my firestone's. Just seemed to be a little higher quality product...

Airbags are the only wat to go. I've used overload springs in the past - ride was very stiff empty. I like the adjustability of the air bags, can get them exactally where you want them for both handling the load and ride comfort.

I have the Firestones, would get the PacBrakes next time around.

Add a leaf and you will be sorry and not like the ride.

Go with the Air Bags and you don't even have to drill any holes.

Another yes for the bags. Hook up your 5er and fillem up for the desidered ride height.

You can also use Timbren overloads. They set an inch above the axle when unloaded so do not affect ride and engage when you put a load on the truck. I have found them to be an excellent choice for my 5er and pickup camper. Have had airbags in the past and they were good but need constant checking unless you go for the expensive setup with in cab controls. Just my 2 cents worth.

I'm leaning towards taking the airbags off my truck and getting some Timbrens. Six months ago I'd have said get the air bags. That was before the constant PITA they've become. The passenger side holds air beautifully. I don't have to add air for a month at a time. The driver side bag leaks constantly. I have to add air every other day. Firestone sent me a new bag under warranty. The new bag isn't any better. For whatever friggin' reason, the two bags just don't want to hold air. I've replaced the bag once, the line 3-4 times,re-cut the ends 3-4 times, and replaced the valves and fittings twice.

I've sprayed gallons of soapy water and still can't pinpoint the leak. Its really pissing me off.
