What kind of camper do you carry or pull with your CTD?
Re:What kind of camper do you carry or pull with your CTD?
We just ordered our second camper. A 41' sportsman sportster. I got sick of pulling two trailers everywhere we went. Have to take the four wheelers or snowmachines everywhere we go. This thing has a 14ft garage. Dry weight is 11,000 but when you add 110g of water and at least two machines up to four, this thing will be 15k plus. Anyone want to buy a 1992 27ft cobra sandpiper?

I weighed it this morning (dry) and it weighs 3,790 lbs. (I weighed it because I had a year old goodyear E load range tire split sidewall) Now I know why. Guess I'm in the market for a bigger truck or smaller camper. I love my 2500 CTD Dodge but I won't go back on the road with the camper til I resolve this. Real bad news is both these rigs are paid for and I'm retired.
[/quote]

Check out Rickson Truck Accessaries at www.ricksontruck.com. That may be your answer.

Wow! We really have the variety here. Just this past weekend, I installed a stereo w/4 speakers in my Lance. They sure did things right. Everything was pre-wired. Just had to cut out for the stereo/CD player and the four speakers, (6"

We are approaching week 5 for having the same snow on the ground and now mostly in piles. Around here, this time of the year, it is real unusual. It is becoming mud city and black snow.
Thanks for all of the responses. Made for great reading.
See ya!

1991 26' Holiday Rambler Aluma-Lite. 2 huge solar panels, extra storage batts...enough to run my laptop forever. This thing goes all over the west with us...mostly into backcountry locations. Today I sold my '96 ctd 2500 4x4....5ver has to sit in the storage yard until my '03 Lariate HO 48RE arrives in (hopefully) early April. Can't wait to see how that new truck will tow the rig.

Re:What kind of camper do you carry or pull with your CTD?
saw your post and noticed that we have the same truck except mine is a 2001. Are you pulling in OD? I haven't pulled my camper yet with this truck, but noticed when out of OD the rpms would be high at 60 mph or greater. Just wondering.

2002 30' Jayco Eagle 266 with super slide. I have an 8 ft self contained cabover.Very compact but weighs 2000 lbs very manuverable and I get 16 mpg. Very seldom stay in one place more than a day so with the fuel savings I can stay in a motel now and then.

Help! I sold my 21' toybox so we can haul our llamas behind our 10.5' slide in. It weighs about 2900, wet, and I didn't get the "camper special". I get some bad sway now, so am thinking about air bags (Ride Rite), wider tires (more load range) and just found out from dealer the '03s are comming without rear sway bars even an option! Not even 3500, (single or dual). Any suggestions from the slide in folks would be most helpful. I don't think I can go the dualie route...so...

Re:What kind of camper do you carry or pull with your CTD?
I tow a variaty of different style trailers and weights due to the fact that I haul for a few RV Dealers in my area. I have hauled 40' Teton 5th wheels with 4 slideouts (19,000 dry) down to 10' cargo trailers and the cummins pulls them just fine, no problems so far. Only mods I have made to the truck have been biggewr injectors, exhaust brake ( should be standard from D/C) and 4" exhaust.
Hauler
