What is a decent insurance company for a transport business?

I do some hot shotting here and there to avoid empty trips. My insurance (Auto Owners) has not been very economical.
What everybody here uses ? I just want to be legally covered for my rig and possible extra for cargo.

Just like the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, And a good woman. It's just a figment of our imagination.

Ok, ok, that was funny, but I saw Elvis yesterday, and I caught Santa doing the Bunny on Christmas eve. Now I need insurance names ....

Interstate, hotshotting, pickup truck possibly below 26,000 but might have to bite the bullet, get a CDL and go over.

When I got my insurance for hauling they wouldn't give it to me until they saw the contract from the carrier I was leased to . The policy said it would cancel 3 days after I terminated the lease unless I leased with another carrier . Bottom line , no authority , no legal cargo insurance for hauling someone else's property .

You can look at the truck paper there are always a few advertisements in those as well as other trucker publications! Or just hit a few O/O up at the truck stops and ask who they are with and how they like them! If you have any companies DOT number you can search it on SAFER and find out who they are with and then contact that company directly!

I used Geico for years and years, too. Then I got a quote from the local Farm Bureau and was blown away. Our full coverage insurance for four vehicles dropped $600 a year.

Progressive won't do Cargo insurance or your $1 million dollar liability insurance though. In the commercial policys they will just cover the truck.

The time I checked with them they were a little high but you never know! I hauled with another guy that said the same thing. The best he can do is check several but the J is a great place to start!
