Trip from GA to PA

Hello all,

I am preparing to go on a business trip from GA to Butler, PA in two weeks. I will be pulling a 24ft three axle gooseneck equipment trailer (4000Lbs) loaded with prototype ZTR mowers and front cut mowers (about 7000Lbs). I was just wandering what kind of fuel milege I should expect with the truck in my sig. Thanks for any input.
Thanks
Andy

I would guess you'll see anywhere from 13-14.5
You could stop off of I95 and drop off about 800 +/- at my place, that would help out.
Seriously though, I tow about 7800 lbs and see around 14 if I take it easy. I have 3:55's, your gearing will factor in also. Mine is nice around 62-65MPH on flat ground in OD, althought taking off heavy is queer with these gears.

The slower you drive the better your mileage will be. Mine jumps about 3-4 mpg going from 75 mph to 60 mph.....

pjsnyder,
I would drop one off but my boss may get a little hot about that. I like my job and don't want to lose it. It's the only job I ever had were if I break something it is a good thing (only during testing).

You will get about 5 mpg going up fancy gap,but its only 8 miles.,and there's a flying J truck-stop right after you top the mountain and you can fill-up with some of that high-temp diesel.

Oh hell , after he fuels at Flying J his mpg will drop to 3 mpg ! 5 mpg at Fancy gap ? I always got 8 mpg pulling a trailer with my 3500 but I wasn't burning Flying J fuel . The last time I went from KY to PA I fuel at the 94 fuel stop on exit 94 on I-64 in KY . Fuel was cheaper (and cooler ) there than at the Flying J further east .

I've done the GA to PA trips many times with a 44ft enclosed trailer weight about 17-18000 GVW on the trailer my average MPG was 9
I would get worse MPG once I got past DC going north because of all the traffic in the N/E states so I couldn't maintain a constant speed

Just curious , you're using your truck pulling a load for your employer . If you're asking about mileage it seems you haven't hauled much . Do you have proper authority and permits , DOT physical and truck DOT inspection ? DOT will eat you up if you don't . Watch the scales . In some states all commercial vehicles have to stop . In others trucks over 4 tons .You can pick up a pocket guide to fuel stops for less than $4 at most truck stops . You'll get better fuel mileage than most posters here if you're pulling a flatbed instead of a van .
I see you're from Winder . I lived in Auburn several years before moving to KY in '99 . I still get down there delivering and picking up loads in Gainesville . That's nice country . I'd like to get down to Dawsonville for the moonshine festival in the fall .

Hello everyone,

Thanks for all the comments and advice. I made it back from PA on Sat. I averaged 10.5 to 11.6 going north with the 10500 load (payload + trailer). I got 12.6 headed south with half the weight but I drove a good bit faster, I was ready to get home. That is some pretty country up there but to many hills for me. Thanks again for the advice.
