towing capacity

I just purchased a 250 diesel reg. cab. I need some guidence if possible. The manual indicates the GVWR is 9000#. GAWR Front is 4630# and GAWR Rear is 6000# I just weighed the truck with two passengers and tool box. The weight was 7100# Does that leave only 1900# that can be put in the bed. The FW I have has a pin weight oh 2230#. Does that mean I'm over loaded? The Ford I traded in worked fine. I hope the Dodge does too.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Legally, yes, but if you do a search, there is LOTS of info about this subject.

make sure that your tires are rated for the weight, your rear axle should be, but you may have load range D tires on, which are not strong enough.

What year 2500? I have an 01' 2500, and pull a fifth wheel with a simular pin weight. I do have factory overload springs, a D80 rear, 265 tires, and sway bars though.

I have a 2009 Reg cab, 3:73 Diff. I just put the fiver one this morning and the bed only dropped 2.5 inches. It has 4 leaves in the springs. I don't think I'll need overloads. I just had the rear axel weighed at 2800# That leaves 3200# before the axles are overloaded. I think I'll be ok.
Thanks for your response
