Towing 5th wheel with smarty jr

Hi I have a 12K 5th wheel and I was wondering if its safe to run smarty jr on level 2 ,TM default and TQ default.

Sorry I can not speak to smarty Jr, no experience. I have a TST box and tow 30ft 5er all the time 2 power and 2 torque. Do not know if this helps, possibly someone who tows with smarty will chime in.

very safe it will lower your egt about 200*

Thanks for the input and I wasn't sure about the tranny holding up to the extra torque.

how's the smoke level?
any increase in mpg?

i tried mine on level 3 this past weekend towing about 10k..........worked fine

I don"t get any smoke on those settings and what a difference from switch 1 to 2 when towing.

It will slip the clutch on #2 so I'm sure its not that good for an auto

I just got my new/used racecar trailer and towed it 600 miles with my 2nd gen 24 valve Smarty on level
#3. It worked great!!! I got 15.8 mpg for the towing part of the trip. 21.5 on the non towing part on level #1.

CAT scale was 12,800. Trailer empty weighs about 6k. With streetrod and gear GCVW will be about 16,300. Perfect.

Smoke?? depends on how you drive it. If you let the revs fall to idle then mash it, between shifts , well hopefully the trooper is someplace else because it will get darker in the area. haha. Other wise if you keep the revs up between shifts it only puffs a little. Good power.
