Towig my 2500

I am getting ready to tow my new 2500 4x4 CDT behind my motorhome and the owers manual is pretty vague on towing instructions. It dosn't say anything about pulling fuses to stop the buzzers from running while the key is in the unlocked position. Is there a proper way to set this up without leaving the buzzers runing? I am new to this forum and hope someone here can help. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Steve

Are going to use a tow bar,two dolly ?? That would depend on the key situation. As far as the 4x4 I would assume you would just shift the transfer case into neutral and go. Welcome to the board and someone will chime in here with some more info soon. What are you going to be pulling it with?? Just curious?? Goodluck,,,Rick

Yes i am using a Roadmaster All Terrain towbar. The problem is unlocking the steering wheel. when you turn the key to unlock the buzzers go off. Most times when this happens the book says to pull the proper fuses but this book dosen't say which ones. My Tahoe didn't need any pulled. I will be pulling it with a 42' Monaco Dynasty with a 400 ISL Cummins

I know this does not answer your question, but why not buy a $1500 double axle 18' trailer to protect your $$$K motor home and $$K truck.

Allows you to reverse with less worrying, brakes on both axles is safer stopping (doubt the Dynasty needs the help though) and no wear and tear on the Dodge.

I don't want to have the headache of having to store the trailer at campgrounds etc. It would be nice to be able to back up though.

I hope you are installing a Brake Buddy on your truck. I realize you have one nice Class A there but, it would be nice to have a little more stopping power to slow down that extra 7k plus lbs attached to the rear
As far as the wheel lock I didn't think the steering wheel locked usless it was at extreme angles when shut off.

Also just thinking about it, it would be idea to have the front wheels locked that way you don't have too many pivot points when turning, ie the only pivot at this point would be the ball and not the ball & front wheels. Maybe I'm wrong
Check with any RV & coach dealer and Camping World if one is nearby they should have all the answers

Is it a manual. I think Standard trans. shops tip was not to tow manual unless you lift rear wheels.

You should be able to shift the 4X4 into neutral and leave the key in the accessory position that unlocks the wheel but turns off all the electrical devices like my Neon did. That should also stop the bells .
You will need a tow buddy or something like it since most states and ALL of Canada require it if the towed vehicle is over 1500 pounds. In the states that have no weight requirement, they require that you be able to stop at a certain distance longer than you do without the towed vehicle, usually about 40 longer distance. If you cant do that, a tow buddy will be needed.
If the vehicle being towed is over 5000#, the MH has to be rated for that. The combo also must be under the MH's GCWR when hooked up, EVEN if the towed vehicle is under 5000#. Good luck.
