Question Trailer Tires, revisited...

Anyone heard of or had any experience with "Tow-Master" tires? I believe they are manufactured by a company by the name of GreenBall.

The situation is this... I have a boat trailer that is in dire need of new tires... it currently has Goodyear Marathons on it which I hear are supposed to be one of the best trailer tires around. However, they are more expensive and harder to get in my area than these GreenBall's. If I were planning on keeping the boat a long time, I'd go with the Goodyears again, but I'm thinking about selling it within the next year so I don't want to pump a bunch of money into it at this point, but then again I don't want to put an absolute junk tire on it either. Would the Tow-Masters be a decent tire to go with? I can get a set of 4 ST215/75 R14 Load Range C mounted, balanced... blah blah blah out the door for $270.

TIA

I've had them installed on my TT, I got them from, I think, Big O Tire. The lasted for 8k miles before I replaced them with a free set of Goodyear Radial tires. Oh did I say mine were Bias Ply
Just keep them inflated properly and balance and rotate them & they will work just fine as long as they are rated for the weight yo are putting on them

I got a set of TT tires from a local "Discount" tire store. They were Carlisle's. They have the same tread pattern (exactly) as the Marathons and have been good to me so far. They are D load and I got them with all the bells and whistles for about 150 for a pair of them. Good luck

I had Michelin XCA"s on my 34' Airstream. When i had a failure on one tire I couldn't get the same tire anymore. Due to their unique size I had to replace all 6 with mew shoe's. Two Goodyear dealers recomended the "Towmasters". I've had them one year now problems yet

I'll never buy Carlise tires. The tread separated from the belt on two tires this summer causing golf ball size knots on the side walls. I went to replace all four and the other two tire's treads were seperated also.
I replaced with Maxxis, happy so far.

Thanks for the info guys! I just got back from having them installed at Costco. I got the Tow-Masters I mentioned earlier, and they are radials... actually ended up costing $260-something out the door for 4 ST215/75/R14. I would have preferred to buy from Discount, due to the fact that if I have a problem they are everywhere out here, but they wanted $450+ for the exact same tires I got from Costco.

I think I found the cause of the premature tire wear, but I'll post that in a new thread since it's a different subject than tires alone.

Thanks again for everybody's input.

I just lost two Carlisles on my 5th wheel last week. I called Carlisle Tire and was told to replace all 5 of them. They gave me an authorization number and said they would pay for 5 of any brand I chose. You can call them at 800-827-1001. The tires in question, which they said they had trouble with; were LT235/85R16 load range "E". They no longer make that tire. Good luck.

Well I guess that is good to know, but unfortunately to late. I just bought a couple Carlisle 14.5s, load D tires for $110 out the door. How long did yours last before failing? I also got a couple Power King tires that are rated load F so hopefully they can pick up some slack if the Carlisles fail.
