Lightbulb Selectable Shift Point Control

I'm doing some research on what people may be looking for in a heavy duty truck and I was wondering how you guys feel about Selectable Shift Point Control? This would give you additional shift point settings (Normal Driving, Driving w/ Loaded Bed, Normal Towing, Heavy or Mountain Towing) for when you are towing. Would this be an attractive feature, or something you look for on a vehicle?? Thanks for the feedback.

I'll bite.... while it sounds attractive I think very few could find a real functional reason for having said shift point selection. A few of the transmission rebuilders have products available that allow for this, but they are very pricey and cumbersome for most to utilize.

Best wishes whoever you are and whatever you're up to.

Check patents.
There used to be just such an item, the Emjay Strategy Controller (or something like that),

That's why I drive a stick... Autos never shift when I think they should.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea.

I do know that the owner passed away,, I'm not sure if they opened back up for business or not. You might try and do a search.

Give me a system that would have a joystick controler that would allow me to control the shifts manually. Also throw in a switch that would allow me to switch back to full (factory auto) when I didn't want to hassle (or need) the manual control.

Make the joystick a portable set up to sandwich between the console so it could also be placed out of the way when not needed. Also put in a manual TC lock up switch in there...

Were you talking about something like the AGS transmission by Mercedes Benz? I think this would be a good option. http://www.freightlinertrucks.com/tr...smissions.aspx

I'm with Asher. Give me something like the Porshe Auto-stick so I can tell it when to shift up or down, with a position for regular automatic, park, neutral, etc. Also a handy TC lock switch with a dial to select automatic lockup disengage at a minimum speed. My ATS Commander has this but it's not handy enough. Of course the tranny stays in lockup during shifts.
