In Maryland, ALL trucks over 5 ton gvw (10,000 lbs.) are required to stop at weigh scales commercial or not but excluding motor homes.
My Dodge has a 6 1/2 ton gvw rating so I must stop empty or pulling my travel trailer.
While most everyone blows the scales with their pick up, it is still law... Kinda like a 55 MPH speed limit and your doing 60 chances are a cop won't write a ticket for it...... BUT HE CAN!

I don't know for sure but I have been told by plenty of reliable scources the fines are pretty stiff $500 to $10,000!!! I'll stop!
