Truck Weight Limits

Let me start off by saying I am by no means a seasoned puller, I only have about a dozen under my belt. Most pulls have been unsactioned county fairs and such, mostly with dead sleds. Most fairs did not make you weigh in, you just pull with what you brung, no problem there. I have been turned away from one pull for weighing in at just over 9000lbs, and on another they would let me pull, but I had to go around and ask all the other pullers if they minded me pulling even though I was over weight. My question is, how do you guys stay at or under 8000lbs? At Greene's a couple years ago there was a Superduty 1 ton DRW LB, reg cab that weighed in at just over 7800, granted I have a quad cab, but a 1200lb difference? A Duramax 1 ton qaud cab DRW weighed in around 8700. Plus with some guys adding the ballast weight in the front, I can't see how they are under 8k. Someone please enlighten me.

I have pulled at greens also, my 99 3500 wieghs @ 7600 LB empty. I know your 04 block weights around 50Lb more than the older ones. I will bet that 6spd weighs a ton also. That is a really sweet looking truck, I hope to see you at a pull sometime, as far as the rest of your weight I have seen guys remove the tailgate and make sure the fuel tank is not full, that might help a little but your right at a serious pull it will most likely need to be less than 8080 LB. I will also bet if alot of heavy trucks are showing up they will have to up the weight limit.

Go with a near empty fuel tank your truck should be under 8000 or right at it.
