rubber roof and mildew

I have a mildew problem on the roof because I have to park under trees. How do you control the problem without using bleach? I understand that bleach is not good for the roof.

Thanks guys

A mild bleach solution will not hurt EPDM (rubber) roof. Make it mild and apply it with a wrung out sponge mop so it doesn't run down the sides - - clean the roof first, then apply the bleach lightly.

We have found in our medical practice and from various informed sources, that in the case of bleach, "more" is not better. We use a 10% solution for cleaning and it works great. But we are guys, and we seem to think that is a little is good, more must be better, or faster, or something ? I use the same on my RV which lives under an oak hammock, and a spritz with that, followed by a quick rinse (with, as advised, an eye to the sides of the RV for streaking), then a brush with regular car wash soap solution works fine. Power washers can also be good - they will do the trick with no bleach - just another option.

Plus I always wash the trailer after I clean the roof.

That is quite strong. Do not expect it to turn white before your eyes - - if it does, it is too strong. That is why I suggested washing the roof first, then a light coating of the bleach solution and don't rinse it. It will continue bleaching as it sits in the sun.

My trailer always sits under a covered awning when not in use, it gets dirty but never just really bad. Not meaning to change the subject but I noticed here recently that the rubber roof membrane on mine had a few small wrinkles in it, is there cause for alarm or is this normal wear on the rubber roofs. It use to be pretty tight and I don't walk around on top of it when cleaning. This is the first trailer I've owned with the rubber roof.

No sweat on a few wrinkles in the roof fabric. After time almost all EDPM roofs will get a few small "wrinkles." These are no problem. Watch out for the big "bubbles." These indicate a serious problem. By the way, make certain that you keep the roof clean with good calking around the edges and fixtures.
