Pullrite mounting question
I just recieved my pullrite 20.5 lb super 5th hitch (non slider). I got the no drill brackets with the kit that only mount one way. My question is how should I mount the rails? The directions state that the rails can either be mounted at 0 or 2+ inches forward of the axle by flipping the rail around. Which way do you suggest? I searched last night and found equal opinions for both directions. Niether way is suggested by pullrite.
The trailer should be about max for my truck 04.5 SRW LB. It is a 2002 carriage 35' cameo. Pin wieght is between 1800 and 2100lbs according to the literature that came with the trailer and their website. Curb wieght is just under 10k. I only have one shot to nail this as the trailer is approx 400 miles away when I go pick it up. Any advice would be appreciated.

Personally i would have the pin 2 inches in front of the centerline of the rear axle. I have a slider in my truck and i have it setup so i can move it from 6 inches in front of the centerline of the rear axle, or 2 inches in front or 2 inches behind the cetnerline of the rear axle, and i prefer the 2 in in front, 6 is to much and 2 behind isnt good either. THese are just my opinions and my prefferences is al

Most of the literature I have read recommends two to four inches forward of the axle centerline. So I would definitely take the two inches forward if I can get it. Good luck.

Thanks Casey. I have the hitch half installed. The no drill bracket is in on the drivers side. I have the rail in the 2+ inch forward position. I would have had the other bracket in tonight also if the frame bolt you fish in wouldnt have got jammed and came off the fish line Only took an hour with a magnet and screw driver to get it rehooked and in the hole. Hopefully the weather will cooperate again tomorrow and I can get the hitch finished. Then I need to finish the exhaust brake install. I need to do the wiring still and install the drive belt. The sun needs to stay up another couple of hours a day. I feel like a farmer

a tad forward feels the best for me as well. i think it puts more weight forward. i've noticed some big rigs with the 5r forward of centerline between the axls.
ive also seen people use the slider with a screw/motor so they can move it forward/back while driving to find the sweet spot.

Thanks every one. The hitch is in. The second bracket almost installed itself. All I need to do now is to grease her up and I can go pick up my trailer.
