overheating while backing
There is one. 'BNold' (above) has one. He installed 2-3 for other DTR TX #8 members 2 yrs ago.
Believe it involves an inexpensive Nissan relay switch of some kind.
Try pm'ing him (or a search). He was married last weekend, so may be a while before he gets back to you!

Herb, the engine is overheating when you back up because the fan is trying to push air out the front of the truck.
Since the engine is turning the opposite direction, I'd also assume that the coolant flow is not optimized, allowing the heads to get too hot.
Maybe they can come up with a way to keep the engine spinning the same direction all the time someday?

I found a way to over come this. Real simple. You just flip the truck over when backing. You might want to add cab lights to keep your paint from getting scratched.
It is likely the fan hub is failing. It should engage fully when the water temp is approximately 206 degrees. Another possibility is the dirty radiator caused by the crankcase vent bottle. When pushing a heavy RV backwards with an automatic transmission there would be a lot of heat generated and no way to get rid of it.
