Is this what you are talking about? Of coarse I have already had my cable fall out from the bed and drag the ground today. Got it perty good. Electrical taped it up but it made me mad as all. Yeap, need a plug in the bed so this dosen't happen again.

I am about to purchase a Brakesmart controller and have an installation question...

The instructions say to remove the line fitting from the brake master cylinder, screw in the tee fitting and then the Brakesmart sensor.
Loosen the sensor slightly and bleed the air out from there. Tighten the sensor and your done.

Is this adequate to getting all the air out of the brake lines?
Wouldn't you want to bleed the brakes from the 2 calipers that are connected to the line that was disconnected?

Tons of these controllers have been sold and I'm sure this bleeding method is fine, but this seems strange to me..

Thanks, Joe..

The procedure is correct. If you tried to bleed the system through the calipers you would have to push the air all the way through the front brake lines and that's not necessary. I do agree though, it does seem strange but if you follow their instructions, you should have no problems.

Totallyrad's right. When you open a line at the master cylinder, you are introducing an air bubble into the system at the top. It's much easier to bleed out that air at the top, right where the bubble is already sitting, than to try to force it downhill through all the fluid, to the caliper bleed screw. Don't forget, the air likes to rise to the top and the fluid likes to be on the bottom.

Thanks for that link to tweedy's. I've been waiting for the warn xt30 ATV winch (synthetic line w/wireless remote) to be released, and they have the best price I've seen.

I couldn't find the no-splice truck bed plug there, though.

Here's a link to the kit at etrailer.

If you want a plug in your bed, I suppose the kit is worth the cost.

Personally I just bought an extension that I took one end off to run it down through the hole in the side of the rear stake pocket. I zip tied it down to the tie down point and to the hitch, and it works fine. I would have used one of these kits, but I'm not too sure how long I want to keep the truck and didn't want another hole in the bed...

Man, a bunch of people replied while I was looking for that no-splice in bed plug kit...

Anyhow, I think air doesn't go far into the system since the brake lines come up to the master cylinder where you open it briefly, so if you hold the sensor above the T, have someone step on the pedal until fluid comes out, then tighten it, it seems to fill the system.

I guess all I know is I followed the directions, which took about a minute, and I have as firm a pedal as I had when I started.

Personally, I won't use any brake controller other than Brakesmart again. It is that good.
